Microscope stage micrometer
Designed for automatic calibration and shading correction, the Clemex stage micrometer slide comes with a NIST traceable certificate. Calibrating your image analysis system with the appropriate stage micrometer will ensure accurate results. This stage micrometer can be used for calibrating any hardness tester or microscope, in transmitted or reflected light.

Distortion matrix
Matrix of 250 micron-squares used for optical distortion verification.

Nested rectangles
Nested rectangles of NIST traceable sizes used during calibration for the horizontal or vertical ruler position.

Linear scale and 1 mm circle
A 50 mm linear X-axis scale with 100-micron divisions. Includes a 1 mm circle with 100 divisions. Perfect for calibrating low magnifications.

Serial barcode
Serial barcode for tracking the calibrated value in the certificate. The barcode is detected during auto-calibration.
Key features
Automatic calibration
Clemex software automatically detects a series of concentric rectangles. The barcode on the stage micrometer and the values from the corresponding NIST-certificate are used to assign an accurate calibration value for each microscope magnification without any user intervention. This procedure can be easily performed before each analysis session.
Mirror for shading correction
Clemex software has a built in tool to compensate for uneven lighting under a microscope, making the detection and measurement of features on a sample even more accurate. The mirror surface on the stage micrometer can be used for setting the Shading Corrector.
Calibration values in audit trail
Calibration values are stored together with the user name and analysis date and time, allowing for traceability of specific user interactions in the audit trail of the 21 CFR part 11 module.

What is a stage micrometer used for?
A stage micrometer is a precision reference slide used to calibrate the magnification of a microscope or image analysis system, so that on-screen measurements correspond to real, traceable dimensions.
Why does a microscope or image analysis system need calibration?
Calibration links the pixels in an image to a known physical scale at each magnification. Without it, measurements such as grain size, coating thickness or particle size cannot be accurate or repeatable.
Is the Clemex stage micrometer NIST-traceable?
Yes. Each Clemex stage micrometer is NIST-traceable and ships with a calibration report, so your measurements can be traced back to a recognized reference standard.
How long does calibration take?
With Clemex software and a microscope equipped with a motorized turret, calibrating four objectives takes about 40 seconds, and the procedure can be run before each analysis session.
Can it calibrate any microscope or hardness tester?
Yes. The stage micrometer can be used to calibrate any microscope or hardness tester, in transmitted or reflected light.
Does it support 21 CFR Part 11 environments?
Yes. Calibration values are stored with the user name, date and time, providing the traceability required by the audit trail of the 21 CFR Part 11 module.
Calibrating image analysis systems

Automatic calibration
Clemex software and stage micrometer make it easy for laboratory technicians to run a periodic calibration in accordance with company policies or industry standards such as 21 CFR Part 11. The stage micrometer allows reliable, automatic calibration with Clemex software, whether using motorized equipment or not. A microscope with a motorized turret takes about 40 seconds to calibrate four objectives.
Calibration report
The calibration of each stage micrometer is performed on a NIST-calibrated Clemex system which can be traced back to the reference NIST calibration reference. Our serialized micrometers are carefully calibrated and come with an electronic or hard-copy Calibration Report issued by Clemex.
